Our Journey:

Building a Life and

Business with Purpose

It wasn’t a single moment that changed Eric and I’s lives, but a series of small decisions and realizations that ultimately led us to where we are today.

Eric had always loved his job as an engineer. The challenges, the problem-solving, and the sense of accomplishment were everything he had ever wanted in a career. However, working out of town began to take a toll on our family life. One day, Eric received a picture of our oldest child taking her first steps. He wasn’t there to witness it in person, and at that moment, he realized that while he loved his job, it just wasn’t going to work for our family in the long run. He was missing out on too much.

Around that time, I came home with an idea. Some friends at the hospital had mentioned that window cleaning could be a great business, and I thought it might be a good opportunity for Eric. When I suggested it, however, Eric resisted the idea. Instead, he started cutting grass, trying to find a balance between staying closer to home and continuing to provide for our family.

Despite his initial reservations, the idea of window cleaning wouldn’t go away. One day, I came home and told Eric that one of my friends needed his windows cleaned. It was a turning point for us. He decided to give it a shot, so he began researching, watching as many videos as possible to learn how to clean windows the “professional” way—with a mop and squeegee. When the day came, Eric had to rent a ladder and tackle his first-ever window cleaning job. It took him over 17 hours to complete! With the knowledge and the team we have now, the same job could be done in 2-3 hours. But at the time, it was hard work and a leap into the unknown. Little did we know where it would lead.

As Eric continued his engineering job, he took on window cleaning and power washing jobs on the side, as we started to slowly building something together. While he was out working I was out selling. I and the “Wow” and he is the “How.”

The very next day after Eric left his engineering job, we received a call from a local restaurant. The restaurant needed their windows cleaned because the local franchise that used to handle it had closed down. It felt like confirmation that we were on the right path. Over the next several months, we were able to acquire several more new accounts, and our business began to grow. The transition was challenging, but we were determined. Eventually, the day came when Eric made the decision to give up engineering and start cleaning full-time.

Looking back on those early days, Eric and I marvel at how uncertain and difficult it all seemed. But through it all, we knew we were being guided. God knew what He was doing, even when we didn’t. Our journey from engineering to entrepreneurship was full of challenges, but it was also full of growth and blessings.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV): “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Today, Eric and I reflect on how far we’ve come, not just in our business, but in our lives. It was a leap of faith, and we’re grateful for every step of the way.
